OAS CALORIE CHALLENGE TAKES OFF
When Old Albanian’s Morgan Thompson suggested a first-team challenge to get fit he expected only 15 players to get involved.
However, the rest of the club wanted a piece of the action and soon players from seven of the club sides had signed up, from the Colts to the men’s and women’s vets.
The Calorie Challenge proved such a success that, led by Director of Rugby James Osborn, the club decided to run another and roll it out to other clubs.
Old Albanian and OA Saints diehards were joined by players from 11 clubs who took up the challenge, including: Burley, Bideford, Bancroft, Driffield, Henley, Silhillians, Guildfordians, Marlow Ladies and the women from Rams Sirens.
They were all raising funds via a joining fee of £10 for the RFU Injured Players Foundation, the charity having helped a club player who fortunately made a good recovery from a potentially serious injury; NHS Charities Together COVID Appeal and Show Racism the Red Card.
